What to Eat is a small app for friends on a trip to propose restaurants for each meal, vote on them, and put the decided meal on everyone’s calendar. It is a personal, non-commercial project and is still in early development.
This page explains what the app collects, why it collects it, and what you can do about it.
When you sign in with Google
When you use the app
If you connect a Google Calendar
Only the member who chooses to connect a calendar is asked for this permission. It uses the calendar.app.created scope, which lets the app:
The app cannot see, read or change any of your other calendars or events.
To keep the connection working, the app stores a Google refresh token on its server. That token is never sent to anyone’s browser. The app deletes it when Google stops accepting it, when you leave the trip, and when another member takes the trip calendar over.
Other members of the trip can see whether the trip calendar is working and whose Google account it is on. If it stops working, any member can take it over: the app then makes a new calendar on their account, and the old one stays on yours until you delete it.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the service providers listed below.
When you are added to a calendar event as an attendee, Google shows your email address to the other attendees. This is how Google Calendar works, and the app cannot hide it.
The app tells you this before you join a trip. You can turn off calendar invitations for any trip, at any time. You will still see decided meals in the app and still receive email about them.
The app’s use of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide the features described on this page, is not transferred to anyone except as needed to provide those features, and is never used for advertising or to train AI or machine-learning models.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
